L-1049 Super Constellation Desktop (Small)
Many people believe that the L1049 Super Constellation was the most gorgeous commercial airplane ever built. Affectionately called the ?Super Connie?, the L-1049 has distinctive round windows and the capacity to carry wingtip fuel tanks. On its test flight in 1944, the plane was designed with TWA?s signature red color. It flew non-stop cross-country in less than seven hours. With an engine made up of four Wright cyclone R-3350-988TC 18EA, two turbo-compound engines each rated at 3,400 HP (2,535.38kw), and a range that covers 4,760 miles (7,660 km) using max fuel, it?s no wonder that the Lockheed Super Constellation have better engines and range features. Moreover, it was the first commercial airplane that was built with a pressurized cabin.
